Wendy’s has added a plant-based burger to its menu

Another popular fast-food chain has added a plant-based option to its menu.

Wendy’s has officially introduced ‘The Plantiful’, a Canadian-crafted plant-based burger that the restaurant says “ensures flexitarians have a protein alternative that is full of taste.”

The new creation’s unique recipe was carefully formulated in house and features a patty made of a pea-based protein.

Yes, that means it’s not Beyond Meat, which is the brand that most other chains have chosen to partner with.

It comes standard with lettuce, onions, pickles, tomato, mayonnaise, ketchup and a slice of cheese on a premium bun.

Like all of Wendy’s food, however, The Plantiful is made-to-order and can be customized to include or exclude any ingredients.

We developed a flexitarian option the Wendy's Way — using high quality, flavorful ingredients — and this resulted in what we believe is the best plant-based burger available to Canadians," says Lisa Deletroz, the chain’s senior director of market.

"No one does food like Wendy's, and the idea of offering the same product as other competitors was simply not an option for the Wendy's Canada team."

The Plantiful burger is now available at Wendy’s locations across Canada.
