UPDATE: All-clear given after police incident in Kelowna

(Update: 12:05 pm): Police have given the all-clear after the incident on Enterprise Way.

They explained that they received reports of a device that "closely resembled" a bomb.

It was in the trunk of a vehicle parked along the 2400 block of Enterprise Way.

“The initial report to police prompted an immediate shut down of the surrounding roads and businesses in the area were evacuated,” said Cpl Meghan Foster.

“Members of the Kelowna Fire Department and BC Ambulance Service were placed on standby to assist if required.”

The RCMP Explosives Disposal Unit and police dogs were on site for the investigation.

They found that the device was not dangerous and have now reopened the area to the public.

“We are appreciative of the cooperation of the evacuees as it allowed us to secure a timely and safe investigation,” Cpl Foster added.

(Original story: 11:18 am): Police in Kelowna have warned the public to stay away from an area of the city while they investigate a report of suspicious circumstances.

They have shut down roads around the 2400 block of Enterprise Way.

That includes Enterprise Way between Leckie Road and Hunter Road.

Mounties have asked the public to use different routes.

The situation is unfolding and no estimated time for its conclusion is yet available.
