(UPDATE: Jan. 28, 2020): Dog Control confirmed in an update that the three dogs found with various new and old injuries in the Lakeview Heights area of West Kelowna have been returned to their owners.

They added that they are assisting the BC SPCA in the investigation.

NowMedia attempted to contact the BC SPCA about the matter last week, however, officials said at the time that no information regarding the status of the investigation or the whereabouts of the dogs was available.

NowMedia has reached out the BC SPCA today regarding the update.

(UPDATE: Jan. 9, 2020 @ 1 pm): Two injured dogs found in West Kelowna have still not been claimed, according to the RDCO.

Cory Griffith of the RDCO confirmed to NowMedia that Dog Control was called in by the RCMP on the evening of Jan. 7, 2020 to assist with the capture of three dogs in Lakeview Heights.

Two of the dogs, a hound and a pit bull, had various old and new injuries. A vet confirmed that the hound had injuries consistent with dog attacks.

Griffith said the third dog, which was not mentioned in the post that the RDCO put up this morning, was deemed healthy and has no injuries. None of the dogs were licensed or tattooed.

The RDCO is working with the BC SPCA and other partners on an investigation, however Griffith says that their only objective right now is the medical needs of the dogs and identifying and locating the owners.

Right now, one of the dogs is still receiving medical treatment at a veterinarian. The other two dogs are in RDCO care, and the other injured dog is receiving medical care there.

The RDCO could not comment on whether or not the RCMP have opened an investigation into the incident. NowMedia is waiting for a response from the RCMP on the matter.

The BC SPCA has confirmed that an investigation has been opened and is ongoing.

Officials are investigating after two injured dogs were found in the Lakeview Heights area of West Kelowna.

The Regional District of Central Okanagan posted on the My Dog Matters Facebook page that the two dogs were found with new and old injuries.

They were transported by Dog Control to a local veterinarian.

One of them, a hound, was critically injured. A photo of the dog is not currently available.

The veterinarian confirmed that the hound has multiple injuries from dog attacks – new and old – and has a severe infection in its neck.

The other dog, a pit bull, has dozens of injuries to its muzzle. It also has an eye injury. It is currently being cared for by Dog Control.

Officials are seeking the public’s immediate assistance with locating the owners of the dogs.
